Programmes v Channels – Which has the mightier influence on perceptions?

With the recent successes of some reality TV programmes, we wondered if their influence went further than simply boosting viewership figures with regards to their channel. We therefore wanted to discover the degree to which a programme can affect the popularity of its channel, and what aspects relating to the programme are of greatest influence to this end, if any at all. Finally, we explored whether perceptions of a TV channel can influence how popular a new programme that it airs will be.
